What pesticides are present in tap water?

A recent survey conducted by the NGO "Générations futures" was based on health checks on tap water carried out by regional health agencies and dating from 2019. These results, published on the data.gouv.fr website, have been analysed by the association to find out what they really mean.

To sum up, it can be seen that tap water in France very often contains pesticides, and that of these, more than 3/4 of the individual quantifications present molecules that are either related to endocrine disruptors (EDs) or to so-called CMR molecules (carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic).

A number of the molecules quantified are part of the composition of products that have been banned for years, which proves that water pollution is very persistent and will continue to spread for a very long time.

This pesticide pollution is very worrying, because even at low doses, and adding to this the "cocktail effect" of a wide variety of molecules (several hundred in some departments where intensive farming has been practised for a long time), the impact on our health is undeniable, although we do not yet know all the dangers.

Thankfully, Berkey® systems fitted with Black Berkey® filters take care of your health by retaining and filtering numerous chemical molecules, including large quantities of pesticides.
